Designed for commando and espionage operation, its main strength is the ability to travel unseen through enemy territory and to avoid unfavorable encounters.

Developer: Ishukone

The Buzzard was developed according to the exacting specifications of Admiral Okaseilen Fukashi, head of the Caldari Navy Recon Division, and was the first production level ship specifically built to take full advantage of the cloaking breakthroughs achieved by Project Mirage at Crielere.

Summary

The Buzzard has an extra mid slot and one less low slot compared to most covert ops frigates, making it less agile than the other covops frigates due to losing a nanofiber. It is difficult to fill the Buzzard's mid slots without running out of CPU or using co-processors, making it perform below average for a lower skilled pilot, but for a pilot with covert ops 5 and top notch fitting skills it can be the best in its class.

  • Having empty slots on a covert ops ship is perfectly acceptable. This ship is not intended for any direct combat role.
  • The MAPC in the low slot is needed to give the Buzzard pilot enough powergrid to fit a capacitor battery for long warps.
  • Sisters Combat probes are definitely worth the extra ISK.

NOTES
  • This fit requires at least a +3% cpu hardwiring implant.
  • It is of arguable usefulness within the Uni, and requires an expert skillset to fly a poor substitute of a proper tackle frigate.
  • There are very rare instances where this hero tackle frigate fit may actually be useful. The chance that this Buzzard can hold a target long enough for help to arrive is low, and is typically not worth risking the fleet scout.

NOTES
  • You know, for all those E-Uni Black Ops fleets. Don't forget to bring some Liquid Ozone.
  • If you do not wish to be cyno fodder, you can leave the high slot for the cyno empty, obviously.
  • The Deep Scanner probes can be used in conjunction with other probes to quickly classify which ship or cosmic signatures correlate with what you are searching for.
  • The Sensor Booster and Target Painter are for those rare moments where killmail whoring is generally acceptable, such as the destruction of a Player Owned Station.

  • Optimized to run as a site runner with the Odyssey expansion, but can also used as a fleet scout
  • One of the two Analyzers can be a Tech II. There is not enough powergrid to get both without dropping the Salvager.
  • The Salvager is optional, but there is space to fit it and not much else useful that could be set there.
  • There is just enough tank to let the ship withstand one volley of smart bombs from a battleship.
  • Covert Ops V is required to fit this cleanly. With Covert Ops IV, leave the unused Analyzers and/or Salvager offline. You should only need one of these at a time.

NOTES
  • Align time ~4.8 with out MWD.
  • Use the cargo scanner to find out what cans to go for before you start hacking the site.
  • Fairly cheap, at roughly 35 million isk. You should be able to pay for it with one or two runs into Null Sec.
  • Persistence is key. When you have enough loot you can drop it off at a station out in Null for later pick up.
  • No need for Sisters modules they are expensive and will make you a target for gankers.
  • With scanning skills all at 3 (Not counting Astrometric Acquisition/Pinpointing) you should be able to scan down all of the Data/Relic sites in Null. Some sites may require you to have you probes at the .25 scanning range.
  • Have your Salvaging skill at 3 so that you can salvage wrecks from player ships you come across.
