Procurer

The mining barge was designed by ORE to facilitate advancing the mining profession to a whole new level. Each barge was created to excel at a specific function, the Procurer's being durability. With that in mind, the designers could only make space to fit one mining or ice harvesting module. To mitigate the effect this would have on the ship's mining output, they came up with a unique loading system that allows this one module to work at triple efficiency. Mining barges are equipped with electronic subsystems specifically designed to accommodate Strip Mining and Ice Harvesting modules. SHIP BONUSES

Summary
Of the mining barges, the Procurer has the biggest tank whilst being in the middle for ore hold size and last for yield, thus making the Procurer most useful for mining in austere environments.

- With an EHP of nearly 75,000 against Antimatter, this fit is incredibly tough and therefore very unprofitable to gank in high-sec.
- An alternative is to replace one of the Invulnerability Fields with a Survey Scanner to better target rich asteroids (this will only decrease your EHP to about 65,000).
- Even at maximum skills, the Procurer is still a slow ship at 113 m/s. Use of a bounce bookmark that is on grid with the asteroid belt is recommended.
- The EC-300 drones are added to provide further security against suicide ganking, and no high-sec belt rat will be able to put a dent in your tank. If you have done nothing to make yourself a target, you can likely replace them with Mining Drone Is or further Hobgoblin Is.
- For ice mining, replace the Strip Miner with an Ice Harvester, and the Mining Laser Upgrade with a Ice Harvester Upgrade.

- This fit further increases the already-high EHP buffer of the fit above to a grand total of 97,696 EHP against Antimatter. Note that this is done by removing the Survey Scanner module. As such, this fit is designed to work in small-scale mining fleets where a single ship uses a Survey Scanner to point out high-resource asteroids to the other miners.
- Even at maximum skills, the Procurer is still a slow ship at 113 m/s. Use of a bounce bookmark that is on grid with the asteroid belt is recommended.
- Don't forget the take along the appropriate mining crystals for the asteroids you are looking to mine.
- For ice mining, replace the Strip Miner with an Ice Harvester, and the Mining Laser Upgrade with a Ice Harvester Upgrade.

Hobgoblin II x5
- A bait fit, to trap low sec pirates looking for an easy prey. Make sure that you've got backup if you're jumped by multiple hostiles or by anything bigger than a destroyer.
- Usage: Mine in a low-sec belt. Wait until someone willing to take the bait arrives on grid. Warn your backup to align to you. Align out and bump an asteroid or make yourself look foolish doing something else. Get redboxed. Call for backup. Yellowbox back. Ideally your opponent should be in web range - if he isn't simply point him. Your backup should arrive and end up with a nice killmail.
- With all skills at V and before boosts, this ship has 72K EHP against antimatter, flies at 113 m/s and align in 9.4 s. The capacitor is stable. Damage is 80 dps at 60 km with the Hogoblins II drones.
- The Power Diagnostic System can be replaced with something else (e.g. a Mining Laser Upgrade) if your fitting skills are good enough.
Tactics
- Suicide ganking is a popular play-style and miners are prime targets; cf. Why Was I Ganked? and Suicide Ganking 101 slides
- Mine aligned to a celestial/station for faster warp-out
- Warping out when a non-mining ship enters your belt/anomaly is prudent
- Other mining ships may be scouts for gankers; it is good to know who your neighbours are and put known gankers on your contact list with terrible standing
- If attacked, overload your tank modules
- Mining in a fleet--even just two miners--provides boosts with Leadership skill and Mining Foreman
- It is impolite (and diminishes yield) to mine a rock someone else is already mining: when the rock runs out of ore, the first laser to cycle will get the last ore but the other lasers will continue to cycle (up to 3 minutes) and get nothing
