However, with the addition of the Navy dreads the Naglfar has quickly fallen out of popularity in favor of the Zirnitra, Navy Phoenix, and Navy Revelation. This is primarily due to the Naglfar's extremely poor buffer tank and comparatively low damage output. Contemporary Dread doctrines tend to focus on maximizing damage and tank at the expense of flexibility, resulting in the resurgence of Caldari and Amarr dreads at the expense of Gallente and Minmatar dreads. Nowadays, Naglfars mainly see use for ratting, running CRAB Beacons, and solo PVP. In solo PVP especially, the Naglfar shines due to its strong active tank and ability to function as a "Drift Dread." Summary
Prior to the addition of Navy dreads in the Uprising Expansion the Naglfar was considered one of the best dreads due to its flexible slot layout and capless guns. In solo PVP especially, the Naglfar shines due to its strong active tank and ability to function as a "Drift Dread." The Naglfar also sees use as a "Blap Dread", a dreadnought specifically designed to shoot at subcapital targets with full-sized capital guns.

Notes
In old Norse mythology, Naglfar was a ship made from the finger- and toenails of the dead, which would ferry monsters to the final battle of Ragnarok.
