Once the jaws lock, there's no escape.
- – Muryia Mordu
"'The pinning force is an essential element of the war of maneuver but must be carefully assembled from quick yet resilient troops. Scouts cannot pin an army but companies of mounted infantry may achieve the task. Above all, measure the enemy strength before attempting to fix them in place.'
"Good old Doule dos Rouvenor. Don't get fixated, no pun intended, on the details of his kind of warfare. I've seen scouts pin down battleships, but that's not the point. Use the right force mix, and have them use the right tools to pin down an enemy force of such and such strength. That's the lesson here. But yeah, don't try and scramble a Nyx with a Garmur. That'll end badly."
– Muryia Mordu, quoting the War Commentaries of dos Rouvenor

Summary
The Laelaps is a special edition Heavy Interdiction Cruiser, and was introduced as one of the prize ships for Alliance Tournament XVII, alongside the Raiju. A total of 140 ships were given out, distributed among the top 16 teams of AT XVII.
Compared to the Orthrus upon which its based, the Laelaps gains a high slot, additional base hit points, cargo capacity, capacitor regeneration, and targeting range. It is slightly heavier than the Orthrus, however. Like other AT ships, it also gains tech II natural resistances and an additional 50 calibration points (from 350 to 400). In terms of traits, The Orthrus' warp disruption/scrambler range bonuses are shifted to the HIC-exclusive warp disruption field generators, and gains a unique reload speed bonus, offsetting the usual normal long reloads of rapid light missile launchers. Like the previously introduced HIC AT ship, the Fiend, it gains the HIC standard resist bonus, and an additional bonus negating signature bloom from warp disruption field generators.
Skills
Further information about additional or recommended skills to pilot Laelaps for a specific or its common role(s) can be written here.
Tactics
No sub-article about Laelaps roles or piloting tactics. You can write them here.
Notes
Though not explicitly stated, the Laelaps' scramble range bonus also applies to focused warp disruption scripted and unscripted warp disruption field generators.
In Greek mythology, Laelaps (Λαῖλαψ) was a semi-divine hunting dog which always caught its quarry.
