==Summary==
== Summary ==
The Thorax is a gun boat, designed to use hybrid turrets. In PvP the Thorax is used as a hard hitting blaster boat. This can be highly effective but is very "do or die", and will make most Thoraxes' lives glorious but short. In PvE, the Thorax is less popular; the slow and steady style of the [[Vexor]] is more suited to mission running. Despite this the Thorax can be popular as a first mission running cruiser, because most pilots will have trained gunnery skills while piloting frigates and destroyers, while they will probably have neglected the drone skills required to use a Vexor effectively. Having said that, the Thorax has a 50m3 drone bay, so will also benefit greatly from drone skills.
The '''Thorax''' is a gunboat, designed to use hybrid turrets.

==Skills==
In PvP it is most commonly flown as a hard-hitting blaster boat. With its bonuses for damage and tracking, 50mb drone bandwidth and very respectable speed for a cruiser hull, a blaster Thorax can muster lots of fast-moving DPS even in the hands of a novice pilot, and can apply that DPS to a wide range of small and large targets. Such fits do not, though, tank especially well, and tend to live briefly (albeit sometimes gloriously).
The general skill requirements for a Thorax have those everyone could think of (gunnery skills, gallente cruiser skills, MWD skills, capacitor skills - especially energy management), and also good drone skills (Drones V, Drone Interfacing III-IV, you are going to use them later anyway if you choose to be a gallentean) as well, which can be trained with in 10 days, where T2 guns would require a bit more time.

For a beginner, drones might have 1/3 (down to around 1/7 when gunnery is a few millions high) of your total dps or even more, and they will work nicely on smaller targets since you might just be using heavy blasters.
The Thorax's speed also opens up the possibility of kiting railgun fits, though these are seen more rarely.

While most thorax PVP fit uses shield tank, there are armor tanking thorax fittings as well. By using small turrents or similiar tactics, the tanking ability of a thorax might be as well as a Vexor.
The Thorax can function in PvE combat, but the [[Vexor]] is a more optimal T1 Gallente cruiser for most PvE uses, as its bonused drones give it fully selectable damage type, letting pilots precisely target NPC weaknesses rather than being locked to the kinetic/thermal damage profile of hybrid turrets.

For this reason, it might be better to decloak after your fleet has engaged ---- dont be the hero, since you have MWD fitted on most thorax fits it might only take you seconds to join the battle. If you do so, even if the enemy turns on you(which become less likely in large scaled battle), you have earned your teammate a good respite from focused fire.
''We’re giving the Thorax a bit more thrust and making fitting it feel less tight by improving the powergrid output it has so it’ll be easier to fit higher caliber weapons and have an easier time getting in range for blasters.''

Even though Thorax is usally a gunboat, drones can be a good part of your DPS, they have a good range(more than 25km), better accuracy on small targets, and they are not affected by ewar usually, so always remember to launch the drones in battle.
* Powergrid Output improved from 820 to 860 MW.
* Maximum Velocity improved from 240 to 250 m/s.

At last, hybrid turrents can change ammos in a short time, if you are using T2 medium blasters, bring a round full(400 for neutron, 600 for ion, 1000 for electron) of Null M charges with you just in case(they could be quite useful in OGC-like situations).
