Each asteroid type has two further subtypes, which yield more (+5% / +10%) minerals when refined. Otherwise they are identical in every way to their base ore, and are found in the same regions (just in lower quantities). For instance, if an asteroid belt has Omber asteroids, it will also have some Silvery Omber asteroids and a few Golden Omber asteroids. If you get the chance, you should always mine the higher-yield variants before mining the base ore.

Rules:
ANNOUNCE START/END TIMES: LASERS ON HH:MM is to be used when you start mining. LASERS OFF HH:MM is to be used when you stop mining, or leave your computer for more than your Laser’s cycle time (not required when switching belts).
NAME YOUR CANS: FLEET HH:MM means the can is in use, and was jettisoned at the given time. FULL HH:MM means the can is full (do not change the timestamp). PULL HH:MM means the can is not yet full, but is no longer being used.
NO DOUBLING UP: Do not mine an Asteroid that someone else is already mining. This reduces yield and does not notify you when the Roid is depleted.

Blockade runner transports are the fastest type of industrial available. Utilizing sturdy but lightweight construction materials and sacrificing some cargo space, these haulers are able to reach speeds greater than those of a cruiser while withstanding heavy fire - factors which make them ideal for zipping through dangerous territories with valuable cargo.
The rule of thumb for PvE is to hit the weakest resists of the rat type you're fighting, as detailed here.
However, remember the tiering by damage. Some assume that since, for example, Guristas' lowest resist is to kinetic damage, titanium sabot is the best ammo to kill them. Actually, the higher damage of phased plasma makes up for the slightly worse resists.
